TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT: ISO 26262 Training Seminar with FMEDA Calculation Tool and Optional FSCAE Certification: kVA is pleased to announce a four-day training session April 16-19, 2012, on the topic of Automotive Functional Safety and the ISO 26262 Standard. The training will be held at the Detroit Marriott Troy in Troy, Michigan. To register, please submit a completed registration form.


This training session contains several unique benefits to attendees, including:
• Optional Certification for Individuals: An optional examination is offered at the end of the training session. Successful completion of the examination will qualify attendees as Functional Safety Certified Automotive Engineer (FSCAE).
• Hardware FMEDA Tool for Attendees:  All participants of the System and Hardware Session will receive the unique Excel-based FMEDA-Workbench database tool, which streamlines FMEDA analysis in accordance with ISO 26262 principles.

kVA Announces Employee Certification in ISO 26262:  Two kVA employees recently obtained the rank of Functional Safety Certified Automotive Engineer (FSCAE). This certification reflects a strong understanding of the current state-of-the-art in functional safety for automobiles, as defined in the ISO 26262 standard. Certification is awarded by TÜV-Nord, after 32 hours of training on the topic and successful completion of a comprehensive 4-hour examination.

Successful Joint Training Session with TÜV Nord:  Industry representatives from major OEMs and suppliers were in attendance for the October 24-28 ISO 26262 training session held in Troy, Michigan. This session was organized by kVA and led by representatives of TÜV-Nord, the globally recognized safety expert. Several attendees also completed the certification exam, held on Friday after the 4-day training session. More training sessions will be organized for 2012 to meet increasing demand.

Coming October 24-28, kVA to Host Four Day ISO 26262 Training with Optional Examination for Certification in Detroit, MI:  kVA is pleased to announce a four-day training session on the topic of Automotive Functional Safety and the ISO-26262, including an optional examination to become a Functional Safety Certified Automotive Engineer (FSCAE). The training will be held in Detroit, Michigan, by Germany’s TÜV-Nord Group, an internationally recognized expert in automotive safety. The new ISO 26262 standard describes management of Functional Safety as the essential basis for the development of safety-relevant electronics in passenger vehicles. The training is provided in four-one day sessions, allowing registrants to individually chose their desired sessions. The four sessions are: (1) Functional Safety Management, (2) System Development, (3) Hardware Development, and (4) Software Development. Attendance to the Hardware Development session will provide a USB stick containing a unique FMEDA-Workbench database developed inclusively by TÜV-Nord according to the reliability standard IEC 62380.

kVA Hosted ISO 26262 Two Day Introductory Training: The two day introduction to the ISO 26262 standard on Functional safety for E/E components has been successfully completed with presentations provided by Germany’s TÜV-Nord.

kVA to Host ISO 26262 Training: kVA is pleased to announce a two-day training session on the topic of Automotive Functional Safety and the ISO-26262 standard. The training will be provided in the U.S., by Germany's TÜV-Nord, an internationally recognized expert in automotive-related safety. The training will take place at Clemson University's International Center for Automotive Research in Greenville, SC. Registration runs from March 1, 2011 through April 4, 2011. The training provides an excellent venue for managers and developers.

kVA Wraps up X-Prize Foundation Support: kVA representatives are wrapping up support for the Progressive Automotive X-Prize. The prize competition, which concluded in September 2010, was an exhaustive search to find the world's best ultra-efficient cars. With a target of at least 100 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent), the competition pitted extremely efficient vehicles against each other in real-world tests, with $10M on the line for the winners.

kVA representatives served as technical advisors to the prize competition, and are now involved in reporting results to the Department of Energy.

Welcome to kVA's New Website:  kVA was incorporated in 2010, in response to a growing need for engineering expertise in complex systems. Particularly in electrified vehicles and clean energy, domain knowledge is necessary but not sufficient for new product development. Successful enterprises require a deep understanding of complex systems, and the standards & requirements that drive such systems. kVA brings that expertise to clients in the automotive, energy, and electronic systems industries.
