kVA by UL has proven functional safety expertise on the following automotive programs:

  • Steering and Braking Systems Specification for Autonomy-Enabled Vehicle (ASIL C/D) – kVA by UL built a process and work package framework to enable supplier engagement for a new-tech vehicle manufacturer. kVA by UL advised on necessary safety goals and requirements, system designs, and supplier work packages for ISO 26262 documentation for a full range of systems including steering, braking, camera, radar, and lidar.
  • Automated-Driving Confirmation Reviews (ASIL B/D) – kVA by UL performed independent confirmation reviews of ADAS and autonomous driving systems for a big-3 OEM customer, as required to meet ISO 26262 part 2 clause 6 requirements.
  • Highway Close-Follow Platooning: Functional Safety Concept Development (ASIL C) – kVA by UL worked with a leading supplier of braking systems to define safety requirements and test cases for autonomous ‘close-follow’ platoon framework. This included supporting safety analysis, such as fault tree and FMEA support.
